Today we celebrate the Institution of the Polish National Catholic Church.
“This year marks the 114th Anniversary of the organizing of the PNCC in Scranton, PA by a group of Polish immigrants under the leadership of Father Francis Hodur in March 1897. […] When the PNCC was organized, Bishop Hodur did not want to establish a new sect. He wanted the PNCC to be a part of that One, Holy, Caatholic and Apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ Himself. He wanted it to be a true Church having the above mentioned attributes, but yet a Church with democratic governance. The PNCC, therefore accepts all of the teachings of the Undivided Church (up through 1054 AD). […] We cannot forget that the Church is the Body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head and all baptized people are her members. Let us pray – especially today – for our Church, for her present and future. Let us never forget that the true, spiritual Church, cannot be built on money-making activites only!
