Sometimes we get bogged down in the intellectual, and forget the imagination. We look for proof in numbers and statistics, instead of seeing the truth.

In today’s Gospel Jesus sends out the disciples on a mission to all nations, to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. God sends us out into the world, asking us to have faith that we are not alone. Telling us that we do not need to be afraid. God’s spirit is present in us. As people of faith we are called to grow in that faith, to grow closer to God. That’s something that will require us to use our imagination as well as our intellect. We are to keep imagining and to keep drawing and to keep longing for God, because that is our calling; and it’s not just a job, it’s a lifetime challenge, but we are not alone.
